Ginger is a flowering perennial herb whose rhizome, is widely used as a spice or a folk medicineand has earned the nickname “The oil of empowerment”. The scientific name for ginger, “Zingiber,” is derived from the Greek zingiberis, which comes from the Sanskrit sringabera, meaning “horn shaped.” Gingerroot oil comes from ginger root, with a pungent and a peculiar-looking underground rhizome member of the Zingiberaceae plant family, perennial herb which grows up to three to four feet high with narrow spear-shaped leaves.Ginger root oil containsgingerol, mono- and sesqui-terpenoids, such as neral, geranial, 1, 8-cineole, zingiberene, B-bisabolene, and B-sesquiphellandrene.
