Kamal kesar is an aquatic herb flower with creeping stem commonly called Indian lotus or sacred lotus from the family Nelumbonaceae. The genus name is derived from the Tamil word “Nelum”, which means blue and ‘nucifera’ derived from the Latin word, means “nux or nut” and ‘fera’ means “bearing or nut-bearing”.
