Roman Chamomile Essential Oil is derived from the flowers of the chamomile plant, which belongs to the Asteraceae family. Two main types of chamomile are used for essential oil production: Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile or Anthemis nobilis) and German Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla). The German Chamomile has a distinguishing bluish tint; the Roman Chamomile is more delicate, pleasant, and commonly used than its lesser-known German counterpart. For emotional applications, calmness and support with Insomnia, the Roman Chamomile is the one to choose, while the German Chamomile is known for skin care and anti-inflammation. 

Plant Part Used
The essential oil is extracted from the flowers of the Roman Chamomile plant, Anthemis nobilis.

Extraction Process:
Roman Chamomile Essential Oil is primarily extracted through steam distillation. The freshly harvested flowers of the Anthemis nobilis plant are subjected to steam distillation, where steam passes through the plant material, carrying the volatile aromatic molecules with it. The steam is then condensed, and the essential oil is separated from the water.
