Basics
Q. What is agarbatti fragrance oil?
Agarbatti fragrance oil, also called incense perfume compound, is a concentrated fragrance made for incense sticks, dhoop and cones, to give a strong aroma while burning.
Q. What is the difference between agarbatti perfume and essential oil?
Essential oils are natural plant extracts. Agarbatti perfume compounds are blends made for a strong, steady burning aroma at a practical cost.
Q. Which perfume is best for agarbatti?
Chandan, gulab, mogra, champa, loban, guggal, kewda, lavender and nag champa type fragrances are among the top sellers. The best choice depends on your market and price range, so test samples first.
Q. What is nag champa fragrance?
Nag champa is a classic Indian incense aroma based on champa flowers with sandalwood and soft resin notes.
Q. What is loban fragrance?
Loban is the Indian name for benzoin resin. Loban fragrance has a warm, sweet, resinous aroma, popular in pooja and dhoop products.
Making Agarbatti
Q. How is perfume applied to agarbatti?
Most makers dip raw, unscented sticks in perfume compound diluted with a dipping solvent, then dry them. Masala agarbatti has fragrance mixed into the paste.
Q. What is DEP in agarbatti making?
DEP, diethyl phthalate, is a solvent widely used to dilute perfume for dipping agarbatti. Phthalate-free dipping solvents are also available.
Q. How much perfume is needed for 1 kg of agarbatti?
It depends on stick thickness, masala and the strength you want. Many makers dilute 1 part compound with 2 to 4 parts dipping solvent and test the uptake. We guide you for each fragrance.
Q. How can I make my agarbatti smell stronger?
Use a stronger compound or a lower dilution, let sticks dry fully, and pack them airtight soon after drying.
Q. Can the same fragrance be used for dhoop and cones?
Yes. Most of our incense compounds work in agarbatti, dhoop sticks, cones and sambrani, at levels suited to each base.
Safety and Storage
Q. How is agarbatti made?
Bamboo sticks are coated with a masala of charcoal, wood powder and binder, dried, then perfumed by dipping or by adding fragrance to the masala. The sticks are dried again and packed airtight.
Q. Is agarbatti smoke safe?
Burn agarbatti in a ventilated room, keep it away from children and pets, and avoid burning many sticks in a closed space.
Q. How should perfumed agarbatti be stored?
Pack sticks in airtight pouches or boxes, away from heat and sunlight, to keep the fragrance strong.
Q. What is the shelf life of agarbatti fragrance oil?
Usually 12 to 24 months in sealed packing, stored cool and dark. Some compounds are flammable, so keep them away from flames.
