What is Avocado Oil?

  • Avocado oil is a rich carrier oil pressed from the flesh of the avocado fruit, Persea gratissima, also known in India as butter fruit.
  • Unlike most carrier oils, which come from seeds, avocado oil comes from the fruit itself, much the same way as olive oil.
  • It is rich in oleic acid, palmitoleic acid, natural vitamin E and a high level of plant sterols in its unsaponifiable fraction.
  • It is a deeply nourishing oil used in creams for dry skin, body butters, hand creams, hair masks, lip balms and massage oils.
  • Liana Health Care supplies avocado oil in bulk and private-label packs from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, with a COA with every batch.

Clear answers to the most searched questions about avocado oil: grades, uses, storage, quality and buying in bulk

Answers from the quality team at Liana Health Care Pvt. Ltd., Meerut, India, a bulk supplier, wholesaler and exporter of cold pressed and refined avocado oil since 2010.

Avocado Oil Basics

Q. What is avocado oil?

Avocado oil is a rich carrier oil pressed from the flesh of the avocado fruit, Persea gratissima. It is high in oleic acid and plant sterols and is used in creams, body butters, hair masks, lip balms and massage oils.

Q. What is avocado called in India?

Avocado is often called butter fruit in India, so avocado oil is also known as butter fruit oil.

Q. Why is cold pressed avocado oil green?

Cold pressed avocado oil keeps the natural chlorophyll and carotenoids from the fruit flesh, which give it a rich green colour. Refined avocado oil is pale yellow because the colour is removed.

Q. What is the difference between cold pressed and refined avocado oil?

Cold pressed extra virgin avocado oil is green, has a mild fruity aroma and keeps all its natural sterols and vitamin E. Refined avocado oil is pale and almost odourless, preferred for white creams and lotions.

Q. What is avocado oil rich in?

Avocado oil is rich in oleic acid, palmitoleic acid, plant sterols such as beta-sitosterol and natural vitamin E.

Uses of Avocado Oil

Q. What is avocado oil used for?

Avocado oil is used in face oils, night creams, body butters, hand and foot creams, hair masks, lip balms, cuticle balms, massage oils and premium soaps.

Q. Is avocado oil good for the face?

Avocado oil is used in face oils and creams for dry and mature-looking skin. It is rich, so it is usually blended with lighter oils such as jojoba or rosehip oil.

Q. Is avocado oil good for dry skin?

Yes. Avocado oil is one of the richest carrier oils and is widely used in body butters, hand creams and foot creams for very dry skin.

Q. Is avocado oil good for hair?

Safety and Storage

Q. Is avocado oil safe for all skin types?
