Grape Seed Oil – Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to the most searched questions about grape seed oil: grades, uses, storage, quality and buying in bulk

Answers from the quality team at Liana Health Care Pvt. Ltd., Meerut, India, a bulk supplier, wholesaler and exporter of refined and cold pressed grape seed oil since 2010.

Grape Seed Oil Basics

Q. What is grape seed oil?

Grape seed oil is a light carrier oil obtained from the seeds of grapes, Vitis vinifera, mostly as a by-product of wine and juice making. It is rich in linoleic acid and is used in massage oils, face oils, lotions and roll-ons.

Q. How is grape seed oil made?

Most grape seed oil is extracted from dried grape seeds and then refined to a light, odourless oil. Cold pressed grape seed oil is pressed without heat and keeps a light green tint.

Q. What is the difference between refined and cold pressed grape seed oil?

Refined grape seed oil is light yellow and almost odourless, the most common grade. Cold pressed grape seed oil has a light green tint, a mild fruity aroma and keeps a higher share of natural vitamin E.

Q. What is grape seed oil rich in?

Grape seed oil is rich in linoleic acid, at about 65% to 75%, and contains natural vitamin E, including tocotrienols.

Q. Does grape seed oil contain OPC or resveratrol?

Grape seed oil contains only traces of these polyphenols. They are found mainly in grape seed extract, which is a different product from the oil.

Uses of Grape Seed Oil

Q. What is grape seed oil used for?

Grape seed oil is used in massage oils, face oils, lotions, creams, roll-on perfumes, cleansing oils, hair serums, lip oils, body scrubs and soaps.

Q. Why is grape seed oil used for massage?

Grape seed oil is light, smooth and almost odourless, so it gives a good glide without a heavy feel. It also washes out of towels and sheets easily.

Q. Is grape seed oil good for oily skin?

Grape seed oil is one of the lightest carrier oils and is widely used in face oils and lotions for oily and combination skin.

Q. Does grape seed oil clog pores?

Grape seed oil is a light oil with a low tendency to clog pores, so it suits most skin types, including oily skin.

Q. Is grape seed oil good for hair?

Grape seed oil is used in light hair serums and leave-in oils for shine without a greasy feel, usually blended with argan or fractionated coconut oil.

Safety and Storage

Q. Is grape seed oil safe for skin?

Grape seed oil is generally well accepted by most skin types. Do a patch test first.

Q. What is the shelf life of grape seed oil?

Grape seed oil keeps for about 12 months in sealed original packing. It is rich in linoleic acid, so opened containers should be used within a few months.

Q. How should grape seed oil be stored?

Store grape seed oil in tightly closed, full, dark containers in a cool place, away from light, heat and air. Add vitamin E to finished products.

Q. How do I know if grape seed oil has gone bad?

Rancid grape seed oil has a sharp, paint-type smell instead of being almost odourless. Do not use rancid oil in skin products.

Quality and Purity

Q. How can I check if grape seed oil is pure?

A fatty acid profile by GC confirms genuine grape seed oil, with linoleic acid of about 65% to 75%. Low acid and peroxide values confirm fresh oil.

Q. What is the INCI name of grape seed oil?

The INCI name is Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil.

Q. Is cold pressed grape seed oil better than refined?

Cold pressed oil keeps a higher share of its natural vitamin E and suits natural and premium products. Refined oil is lighter in colour and aroma and suits massage oils, lotions and roll-ons.

Buying Grape Seed Oil in Bulk

Q. What is the price of grape seed oil per kg?

Grape seed oil prices depend on the grade, origin, crop and quantity. Cold pressed oil is priced higher than refined. Contact Liana Health Care on WhatsApp for the best price per kg today.

Q. What is the MOQ and packing for grape seed oil?

Liana Health Care supplies grape seed oil from 100 ml trial packs up to 200 kg drums, in PET or amber glass bottles, HDPE cans and drums. MOQ is flexible.
